New Ways to Use: Ork Kommando's

Hi guys!

So now i've moved on to the Elites in the Ork Codex, and i've found a unit that isn't necessarily always seen in an Ork army; the Kommandos. These will be the only unit from the Elites section, as the other are obvious as to their use (eg. everyone knows an Ork Nob is for 'smashin infantry)! So here's how id use them:

OK so just a brief overview,
Positive:
-Stikkbombz included in base price
-Furious Charge hits hard(er)
-Move through cover and Infiltrate are a nasty combination!
-Snikrot. 2 CCW's, re-roll al hits in combat, Strength 5, 2 wounds, -1 Ld to enemy when combat is won AND can be put in reserve and moved on from any table edge. For less than 90 pts. 'Nuff said.
Negatives:
-Only Slugga's and Choppas (pistol and CCW), although thats all they'll need!
-Stats of an Ork Boy. You're going to need to stay well in cover!
-Half the price of a Nob (still much cheaper than Lootas and Burnas!)

So thats what they're like, but how do you use them?

Easy: infiltrate them into cover for a cover save and sneak towards the enemy. This tactic seems unreliable, but when you're enemy has to choose between shooting 10 commando's and 30 Boys, they're almost always going to shoot the latter option with everything they've got! Your real ace here is your Nob, or as i have said in the Positive's section, Snikrot. BOth of these provide some serious hitting power, while Snikrot provides some extra close-combat terror with the addition of his Outflank ability. So while your boys charge up towards your enemy, sneak the Kommando's round the back and hit the softer units. Light vehicles can be destroyed with stikkbombz and infantry squads like guardsmen will be chewed through! Also the option to take burna's is really nice against infantry. Just dont get them out in the open, where they'll certainly be shot-up nice and fast :(

So with a squad of 14 and Snikrot hitting at around 240 pts, with Outflank and taking 56 strength 4 hits plus Snikrot's 6 strength 6 attacks, you're going to do some serious damage. PLus, your enemy will probably be much more worried about your other boys charging at him.

So all-in-all, a nice, relatively low cost unit which (while a little delicate) hits pretty hard in Close Combat. They serve as a cool distraction from the rest of your army and an awesome opportunity for some 'Kunnin Conversions' as seen below:

So i hope you've had your bit of 'Kunnin' inspiration. Why not try a few Kommando's in your next list? While your reading this, drop a comment and tell me what you think and what units you want me to look at next (or even the next codex!).
